Create!

Create! is an ambitious studio project in which we developed the world's first typeface designed by a computer.  Using the open source programming software Processing, the team at Johnny Toaster developed an algorithm which generated lines and curves.  This algorithm was run thousands of times, and from these thousands of outputs the typeface was created.

To accompany the typeface we also produced a book containing all the outputs of the algorithm.  The typeface was shown at the Anti Design Festival, curated by Neville Brody in London.  The festival was dedicated to challenging work that was either rejected by clients or never part of a commercial project.  Also shown at the festival was the 'Oxymorons' book.  To download your own copy of Create! simply click here.
