SO.A.P.

SO.A.P (Southampton's Arts Paper)  is a collaborative newspaper promoting the vibrant arts mix in Southampton.  Johnny Toaster help to lead the on going project and art direct the newspaper.  SO.A.P has been set up by a group of like minded 'arts' people in Southampton - the Dangerous Friday Group. The paper isn’t designed to make a profit, it is designed to be a communication tool and a great read for people in the city.

 

The concept is simple: those that are featured in SO.A.P supply an article and split the costs allowing the paper to be free to the reader. Content can be pretty much anything you want, but it is to go beyond press releases and adverts.

 

Newspaper is a great medium to work in. It’s affordable, there is weight to its words and we all have our own reading rituals. We are also using SO.A.P. to help promote local Southampton artists by featuring their work in a 'pull out and keep' centre fold page.
